Kitchawan Preserve
Directions
From the Taconic State Parkway, take Route 134 exit and turn east. Continue past the entrance to IBM T.J. Watson Research Center for 1.2 miles. Kitchawan Preserve is to the left, just past a sharp right-hand turn.
Limited public transportation access to the preserve is via Beeline Bus #15 on weekdays and only three buses on Saturdays. Then from Millwood, a 2.8-mile walk along the North County Trailway.
Park Overview
There is a diversity of flora and fauna in a variety of habitats at Kitchawan Preserve. Vernal pools grace the preserve providing breeding habitat for many species of amphibians and invertebrates. The old fields with an array of wild flowers support butterflies and birds.

Park Description
The wide woods roads in parts of the Kitchawan Preserve, offer ample opportunity to stroll and chat with other hikers. Expect to find dogs as the preserve is extremely popular with dog walkers. Unfortunately most of the dogs are off leash.
